Tips on purchasing spectacles online

When somebody claims that their prescription glasses are completely scratch proof - please don't believe them! This is simply sales puffery being used in a cheap bid to take your money off you.

So, whilst they may be correct in telling you that these specially toughened lenses are able to resist scratches better than their glass alternatives. They are not correct in claiming that their lenses are 100% scratch resistant. Such a product does not exist in the current market and they are pedalling a lie.

These specially coated lenses will obviously scratch if sufficient force is applied to them. However, for day to day wear, they are surprisingly good at staying clear of any small scratches. This means that your expensive glasses will stay in good condition for longer.

Whilst the brick and mortar optician will charge you upwards of $20 for these specially coated spectacles, the online trader is often able to supply these to you free of charge.

The next inevitable question is, how the is it workable!

How the devil do these online optical traders sell you original glasses for less than that offered by the manufacturing company themselves?

How on earth can these online opticians offer you the genuine product at such low prices - often lower than advertised by the manufacturer themselves?

My research has discovered that many online sellers are buying proucts directly from the companies that make the glasses. They are therefore selling you the genuine article. However, there are in existence a few - aren't there always? - rogue traders who will handle fake goods and pass them on to you as the real McCoy. They often don't even have a genuine postal address so you aren't able to trace them to seek recourse.

In order to buy your glasses online, you will need to understand some of the jargon within your glasses prescription. One of the challenges with this is that physicians will tend to maintain a sense of mystique around the terms that they use and make it difficult for you to penetrate their language model. This is a means by which you will end up dependent upon them to provide their skill and buy from them.

If you are confused as to what the various technical terms - pupillary distance, sphere, cyl, axis, add, frame measurement - for instance, there are now some (better) websites that not only try to take your money but aim to educate you too. I think that this is a wise move as to get educated customers has to lead to a happier shopping experience.

There are times when you would like to better understand the nature of the purchase that you are undertaking. Some of the more enlightened online spectacle trading websites have started to publish pages that explain the technical terms to help educate yourself and ensure that you purchase the correct product for your needs.

A few, more advanced websites will let you fax them the prescription, so that if you aren't completely sure about purchasing a health product, like your glasses, online, you can have the reassurance of knowing that your prescription has been checked and verified by a qualified optician.

The internet now allows you to create the most completely tailored shopping experience. By choosing to buy eyeglasses online, you will find a whole stream of traders completely devoted to serving you.
