Today is a scary day. The fact that the economy is slipping so bad is causing many companies to make cuts. Even some of the largest, well performing companies are cutting jobs. You need to know how to prepare yourself if you job is cut.

If I can say one thing, please dont think you are immune to this. I used to be in the telecommunications business. I was in the repair department, we were busy, and we performed the best. We were easily replaced. As a matter of fact, I couldnt believe how fast we were replaced. There were several centers that performed these repairs, ours did more repairs in one day, and had more knowledge than the other two repair centers in the company.

At this current time companies really don't care if people are overworked and underpaid. They will shift more work on fewer people to cut expenses. Yes it is at the customer's expense, but nobody cares. The truth is that all companies do it, so their service will suffer and so will everone else's. Whatever can help secure the top dog's paycheck is what they will do. The best solution to this is to cut you and use your salary to pay the top guy and the shareholders in the company.

So what can you do? Well the most secure thing to do is learn how to make money on your own. I decided a long time ago that I was done letting someone decide if I was going to get a paycheck or not. I decided the only way I would ever be secure is if I paid me, and not some big wig guy that can decide at any time to cut me to make his paycheck.

So what do you do? You get smarter, you get a coach, and you seek out opportunities that will bring you money. This article is just the beginning, you can also see my website. You only obtain job security from yourself. When you write your paycheck, and you make a decision like cutting people to increase your paycheck, then you are secure. I look for recession proof income. If my job goes away tomorrow, I am happy because then I can just work to make more money.
